Yes, it would be hard to configure and extremely personal, getting things wrong for everyone else.  However, if the configuration time paid back, I’d set up an intelligent filter in a moment.  When do I get a chance?

We’re getting closer to the voice-recognition nirvana I want, with one step advancing into programming with no hands. Maybe this will let me do some more work without having my wrists hurt after hours of coding.

OK, I’m tired of supporting AV across 20+ computers so now I’m very interested in discussions of alternative enterprise AV setups and even some of the free AV options (yes, I’m actually considering putting one on my home machine - don’t keel over, I’m not planning on running it live just regular scans)

Or buying a Mac.  Which sounds like more fun.

Businessweek has an article provocatively titled ‘It Feels Like 1998 All Over Again’ which makes the upswell of business and creativity in Silicon Valley sound bad - though their point is that this is much more rational, with some quality bubbling up and many others sticking with sane implementations and business plans that make profits.  That’s hardly a bad thing, so no need to tar it with the irrational exuberance date…

Besides, there aren’t social networking sites for pets yet.  That’s when you know it is irrational…

and what businesses should do to mitigate them.  Parts 1 2 3 4.

I think it’s time I reexamined my wireless footprint/range and security setups… and ditto for the other ones I know about, for my parents and businesses…

A Slashdot discussion that comes out with two main contenders that aren’t converted /repurposed laptops or virtual machines… an Apple MacMini (Wheee!) and a KuroBox… which, for 17 watts power consumption, may be very useful as a media server that is still nice for the environment.

The part of this article I found most interesting was the observation that notarizing documents was really to highlight the importance and binding nature of the documents to the signer and to emphasize the possible ramifications of lying rather than officially validating anything since it was so easily faked…  but with digital signing it can be an actual authentication method.  That’s an upgrade for your product [notarizing] for sure!

Thieves generally don’t bother breaking into companies looking for data, CNN says.  They get it in more plebean ways.  An interesting synopsis of topics already covered in technical publications, to have it written up by a higher-profile media organization might get more traction
towards solving the issue… at least I can hope.
